Submitting your Application

An outstanding admissions application is your key to getting into the school of your choice. A complete and well-organized packet will give the admissions committee a good impression of who you are.

Assembling an Admissions Packet

Take your time, fill out all forms completely, and mail the packet well before the school's deadline. Packets typically consist of:

Completing Your Application

As you begin the admission process, it’s important to understand that admission deadlines can vary based on the admission program used by the school.

Regular admission: Your application must be received by a set date. Decision letters are mailed in the spring.

Open admission: Colleges accept all high school graduates without meeting additional qualifications such as test scores or specific high school courses.

Rolling admission: Applications are reviewed and a decision rendered as they come in rather than all at once after a certain deadline. Try to get your application in as early in the fall as possible.

Deferred enrollment: You have an opportunity to delay enrollment for a semester or year.

Early admission: Is appealing if you are certain of your first choice college. The student applies in the fall (usually November) and hears within a month. There are two types of early programs: early action and early decision.

Delayed/provisional admissions: You are accepted for admission but not necessarily for the fall semester or the upcoming year.

Tip
Misspelled words, incorrect information, and blank responses can make or break your chances of getting in competitive colleges. It's important that you take time to complete the paperwork correctly and on time.
